hppy bday!
Happy Birthday Lars,
You hit on a great topic … people have a very hard time receiving … I’ve seen people who make the giver uncomfortable by saying oh, you shouldn’t have .. no really .. no you SHOULDN’T have and on and on .. to the point of awkwardness. I think some people either have a lack of self worth or are very suspicious about what is expected in return. The simple act of understanding when a gift or comment is well intended is truly a bellwether of emotional intelligence. Allow your friends to recognize you and love you.
Lars, again you are right on. Thanks.
It’s funny that you talked about this subject Lars. I realised I was doing the same thing when I developed a website for a client and they were very pleased and complementary, but I actually found it hard to accept them complement and feel good about myself.
I used to work for a company where one of the developers used to should out excitedly when he got a complement or acheived something like completing some code for the day. He said he did this to complement himself for a good job. Maybe we should all do that
